Missing Teeth Solutions

Options To Replace Missing Teeth That You’ll Love … They Look And Feel Like The Real Deal!

The U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reports that almost half of our fellow Californians aged 45 to 64 have experienced permanent tooth extraction or removal due to dental decay or periodontal (gum) disease. At Dental Oasis of Orange County in Huntington Beach, California, we know that it does not have to be this way. We can prevent or stop decay and disease before it gets to the point where the damage cannot be repaired. However, we have also had the great privilege of supporting life-changing dental treatments. We provide an array of missing teeth solutions. So, there is sure to be a way to ideally complete and restore your smile, health, and quality of life.

Bridges

We may recommend a dental bridge for patients who have lost one or more teeth or have one or more failing teeth that will likely require extraction. There are many different “bridge designs.” The best method for you depends on factors such as the number of teeth to be replaced and the location and health of existing, remaining teeth. The idea with the conventional fixed bridge is to use remaining healthy teeth to hold up and anchor the replacement or prosthetic tooth (or teeth).

The bridge itself includes at least one prosthetic tooth attached to two dental crowns, one on either side of it. The
crowns will be placed on top of the neighboring anchor teeth. Once the crown is bonded, the prosthetic fills the space to replace the missing tooth, and the crowned teeth support the replacement tooth.

Dentures

Generally, patients who are missing more than a few or several teeth can be good candidates for partial dentures. These dentures attach to the remaining healthy teeth. They are removable and must be cleaned properly each day. Complete or full dentures are appropriate for patients who are missing all of their teeth in the upper jaw, lower jaw, or both jaws. Upper or lower denture(s) are stabilized in the mouth due to natural suction and specialized denture products. Here again, consistent proper care is needed, and the dentures must be regularly assessed and adjusted to conform to changes in your mouth over time.

Implants

We also offer a form of tooth replacement that does not require support from other teeth or from other “outside forces,” such as denture adhesive products. This form of tooth replacement is designed like natural teeth. At least one implant is surgically positioned in the jawbone. It is made from materials that are formulated to fuse naturally to natural tissues in the jaw. Once the implant has fused and joined to the rest of the bone in the jaw, it can function like a tooth root. So, it may be attached to a dental crown to hold the replacement tooth in place. At least a few implants can also be used to stabilize a dental bridge or denture. Implant-retained teeth have a high success rate and lots of happy patients for life. They prevent the loss of bone in the jaw, which is associated with a host of cosmetic and functional challenges.
